I recently attended the Saratoga Springs Comic Con,
this event was held April 7-8. Normally, this post is dedicated to medieval history, or the renaissance/medieval faires I attend, but I wanted to go to this event; I was not disappointed.
The Saratoga Springs Community Center (522 Broadway,
Saratoga Springs, NY), where the event was held, was packed with vendors,
artists, celebrities, and of course fans attending the convention. According to the local news, there was over
6.000 people who attended this event.
The following is a quick rundown of what I saw. Make sure you check out the site for a more thorough list
of Artists, Vendors and Celebrities who were at the comic con. A quick look at this site is more than worth the time.
Eric Johnsen does wonderful sculptures. He had several on display, plus one in middle
of being created to show his process. He is an incredible artist so make sure to check out some of his work on his website.
Vermont Comic Con also had a table to promoted their
festival which is held September 15, 16 at the Barre Civic, Barre, Vt. I have never been to this event before, but I have seen their booths at the Vermont Renaissance (Also the winter one) Faires. They are a wonderful group of people and I may visit them this fall (as should you) for their upcoming event.
There were numerous panels for people to learn more about Cosplay, comics and |
Coppers Cave Games and Paintball presented a Magic the
Gathering tournament; where gamers could engage in this event for prices.
Tito Santana- As a professional wrestler I have worked on
several shows with him. He also attended
the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame, when it actually had some credibility, when it was located in Amsterdam, NY.
Tito Santana is a living legend in the WWE and throughout wrestling, so do not
miss an opportunity to see him.
Montreal X-Men Cosplay Charity Group (X-Men de Montréal)-. Their interpretation of the characters from
the X-men comic books/movies, are only matched by their ability to raise money
to support numerous charities. This group attends many of these types of events in the East Coast
(in the U.S. and Canada), so if you see them listed, make sure to check them
out.
The Saratoga Comic Con was a wonderful event for anyone who
is interested not only into comics, but also those interested in cosplay and science
fiction/fantasy. The event is presented
by Chase Saratoga Con's Comic Con which is held in Saratoga Springs in the fall. Make sure you make plans to attend this
wonderful gathering, and to attend this one next spring.

I am still looking for a publisher for my medieval/fantasy novel "Legend of the Mystic Knights". Many of you readers will remember that for the past 1 1/2 years my novel was going to be published by Imminent Banter Publishing.
Due to some circumstances, that had nothing to do with my novel, but were financial. My novel will no longer be published by this company.
If you are a publisher, or fellow author, and wish to know more about this novel, please contact me at my website or via email. Any help or suggestions will be very appreciative.
W.A. Rusho is a professional wrestler, author and historian.

I'm fascinated by the sculptures, William. They look huge. Does he sell these to movie people or theaters?
ReplyDeleteThe convention looks like a riot. So much energy and creativity and it sounds like they had an amazing turnout.
