Mayfaire on the Green

Over the past weekend I attended the Mayfaire on the Green, which is located in Holland Patent, NY.  This faire is a rarity, for it does not have any entrance fee to attend.

I must state that on Sunday, the day I went, the sky was cloudy with occasional rain.  Although, not the greatest day to attend at faire, it still drew many visitors.  Those that attended were treated to a wonderful special time.

Now with the description of the artists and vendors I saw at the faire.

There were several authors who attend together at this faire. Jordan Elizabeth, W.K. Pomerpy, Almondie Shampine and JamesMcNaily are local writers from Central New York who were at the faire selling and promoting their novels. Check them out and their wonderful writings.

If you remember my last post, I described seeing Thimbleberrythe Woodsprite, she was now joined with 2 of her magical friends; Lily Blossom and Nyxie Willowbottom.  Your kids will adore these lovely supernatural creatures and you will too.

Another performance artist at the faire was Mermaid Nixie.  Readers of my posts will recognize her from other faires.  When visiting make sure to donate to the Starving Mermaid Fund.

Mark the Hat Man was there selling some wonderful period, and steampunk hats and accessories. He is located at 1462 Burnet Ave Syracuse, NY (315) 729-9200.

Wood Dragon’s Garden LLC.- A home-based business and producers of some wonderful items, particularly soap products.  Check them out and order some, you will not be disappointed.

NorĂ°rislá - A blacksmith with excellent skills. Check him out and see his handcrafted items.

Another author was Merlyn Fuller.  It was a pleasure to speak to her, check out her on FB and see her wonderful work.

SCA (Society of Creative Anachronism) Kingdom of Aethelmerc- The Shire of Coppertree is the branch of the SCA that is located in the Oneida, Rome, and Utica areas of Central New York State. A great group of re-enactors and living historians who re-create the medieval era.  Do not miss an opportunity to visit with them.

There were many places to get food.

Redmond’s  Red DeerFarm is a producer of some wonderful meat products. I was able to purchase a venison burger.

Paddy Nappers- What a treat to hear them play. I will admit that it was dreary and rainy, but they made the crowd’s spirits rise.  This is the best compliment I can give to the Paddy Nappers, or any group; when you are done listening to them, you will be entertained and have a smile on your face.

Baily & Quinn- Artists that perform with the paddy nappers.  Their unison and skill playing musical instruments is unmatched.

Clip Clocks- Using jewelry, or parts of, they create small clocks inside. You really need to check out their website to see how wonderful these products are.

Cirque to Go- A wonderful group of performers, you will be amazed when you see them.  If you go to their tent, they will teach you to use the hula hoop.

Arden’s Artistry- Creator of one of a kind jewelry and flower head wreaths.  These items are truly beautiful and stunning.

AppleGrove Farms- Producers of some wonderful products for you to make gourmet food right at home.

The Tepee Store- They had a tent where they sold some wonderful items. If you are ever between Cherry Valley and Sharon Springs, NY on Route 20 check out their tepee shaped store, you will not regret it.

Alice and her Puppet Friends- Such a great puppeteer that the whole family will enjoy. Make sure to say hello to her dragon Arff.

Diddlelydeets Scents- A merchant of some great items such as soaps, incense, bath salts and others.  It is always a pleasure to see them at the faires I attend.

You never know who you might run into at a faire

There were so many more, I wish I could list them all.

The Mayfaire on the Green is an excellent faire, and each year it grows and grows.  I am looking forward (and so should you) to attend it next year. The promoters and organizers of this faire should be proud with what they have accomplished, and I cannot wait to see what they have planned for in the future.
