Mayfaire on the Green 2019

Sign design by Daniel Bronsen, painted by Baily Quinn

The weekend of May 18 and 19 was pretty busy for me, I first attended the New Hampshire Renaissance Faire, then went to the Mayfaire on theGreen.

Mayfaire on the Green is held at Park Ave in Holland Patent, NY. This is the 9th annual event for this faire.  It is also one of the few medieval/renaissance faires I go to where there is no charge for admission.

The following are the entertainers, vendors and artists I saw at the faire.  As usual, I apologize for not being able to include all the wonderful people who make this faire so enjoyable.

Thimbleberry the Woodsprite- A charming and lovely Wood Sprite, (The word comes from the Latin "spiritus" (spirit), via the French "esprit").  Thimbleberry will entertain the entire family with her stories, elegance and charm.

The Paddy Nappers- A staple of many of the faires I have visited. When they are not entertaining you with music and song, you can see them around the faire engaging the crowd with hijinks and stories.
This is the video I made for the faire, don’t forget to check out the others on my YouTube channel.
Nixie the Mermaid- The word Nixie comes from the old Germanic word meaning Water Sprite. I always enjoy seeing this performance artist. She is a joy to listen to her speaking in “mermaid”. Make sure you donate to the starving mermaid fund.

Ophelia's Looking Glass- These are two of the most talented musicians you can find.  Check them out at any event or faire you can find them at.

Wood Dragon Garden LLC- Always a pleasure to visit her tent.  She sells wonderful handmade soaps using natural ingredients with no preservatives

NorĂ°rislá  - A talented blacksmith I have seen before.  Anyone who has read any of my blogs knows how impressed I am with the skill of a blacksmith, and he is one of the best.

The Butler-Sheehan Academy of Irish Dance- A troupe of great dancers. You will truly be impressed with their dancing ability.

The Tepee Store- Its always fun to stop by their tent and see their wonderful items. They physical store is located on RT 20, is half way between the villages of Cherry Valley and Sharon Springs NY, and yes it is shaped like a tepee.

Mary Krukonis- With her show Grace and Merriment. I was blown away with her ability to play numerous instruments.  She is truly a remarkable artist.

Had wonderful places to purchase food

Phil Shakespeare- Second cousin twice removed (and once put back) of the great Will Shakespeare. He will entertain the entire family, a show you definitely do not want to miss.

Imagined Realities Studio- Great unique custom created objects. Check out his site to see these wonderful products.

Dacian Falx Leather Company- Sold some very impressive leather products.

What's better than Ice Cream, getting it from a dragon.
Local Authors- I enjoy visiting this tent which includes many local authors. W.K. Pomoroy, Jordan Elizabeth and illustrator AaronSiddall.  Make sure to check out their wonderful works.

Valkyrie Vanguard- A friend I see at many of these faires.  He sells some wonderful products you really have to see to appreciate.

Bobert the Great- A magician that will keep the entire family entertained with his amazing tricks and performance.

The Button Guy- I first saw him last fall at the Royalty andRogues Festival. Vic Lescovar makes some incredible buttons and refrigerator magnets. You can get some he has designed, or even have him insert of picture of yours into them.

Crescent Moon Studio- Another person I enjoy speaking to at these faires. She sells very unique and beautiful items.

You could see a demonstration of a spinning wheel

North Country Forge- Another great blacksmith. Steve Schleicher works out of Booneville, NY.

You could get a chance to play a medieval game

SCA- The Shire of Coppertree a local branch of the Society of Creative Anachronism, out of Rome, NY, had an encampment and demonstrations throughout the day.

Redmond’s Red Deer Farm- Provided some wonderful food items for the faire.  Their specialty is red deer venison.

Mistress Adularia- First time I saw this artisan and vendor.  Check out her Etsy page and see her wonderful items.

Mhisty’s Coven Tree- Spiritual and Holistic Healing shop located in Peru Ny. Check out their merchandise.

The Wizard within the Wood- sells many great items, particularly wood carvings.

Scarlett Rat- a great performer that will keep you laughing and smiling all day.

Enchanted Memories- They can take a photo and do something wonderful and magical with it.  Check out their Facebook page to check out this wonderful vendor.

Clip Clocks- she sells many great items, but you have to check out her tiny time pieces. These items are truly amazing.

Alice and Her Puppet Friends- Whenever you see this talented puppeteer you will be entertained.  Make sure to say hi to ARFF the dragon.

Mark the Hat Man- Sells wonderfully created hats for your cosplay to medieval needs.

Diddlelydeets Scents- A merchant of some great items such as soaps, incense, bath salts and others.

The location of the faire may be small, but if a faire could a heart than this one would have a huge one. It has grown and grown every year I have gone. When you go there, you are part of that community, and that is a feeling you should have attending any faire. It has become one of my favorites. Make sure to make plans next year to check it out.
